Outlet and switch replacement, new circuits, GFCI and AFCI protection, and weather-rated exterior receptacles for homes across Mobile and Baldwin County, from Mobile to Gulf Shores. Small jobs done right, by a licensed electrician, with the price in writing first.
Call (251) 680-7500 Request a QuoteA dead outlet behind the couch. A switch that has to be jiggled. A bathroom receptacle that trips every time the hair dryer comes on. A two-prong outlet where the surge protector won't plug in. None of it is dramatic, and all of it is the kind of job a licensed electrician should handle, because a loose connection behind a cover plate is the most common place we find scorching in Gulf Coast homes.
Professional Systems replaces and installs outlets, switches, dimmers, USB and smart receptacles, GFCI and AFCI protection, dedicated circuits for the appliances that need their own, and exterior receptacles rated for the weather we actually get. One visit usually covers a whole list, and every item is quoted before we start.
Repair price in writing before any work begins. Most jobs finished the same visit.

Licensed electricians, same-day scheduling for most jobs, price in writing before the work.
Worn, discolored, loose or ungrounded devices swapped for new ones, with the connections behind them made properly, including on aluminum-wired homes using the right connectors.
Ground-fault protection where code calls for it: kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry, outdoors and anywhere near water. Arc-fault protection on new bedroom and living-area circuits.
A circuit of its own for the microwave, the window unit, the garage freezer, the workshop, the hot tub or the EV charger, sized to the load and landed at the panel.
LED-rated dimmers that don't buzz, combination USB outlets, and smart switches wired with the neutral they need, so the app actually works.
Weather-resistant, tamper-resistant devices in in-use covers for patios, docks, pool equipment and holiday lighting, on GFCI protection, mounted to survive rain and salt air.
A drop behind the TV, an outlet in the closet for the vacuum, power for the island, a receptacle in the attic for the air handler service light.
Outdoor electrical takes a beating here. Afternoon thunderstorms, salt air along the Baldwin County coast and the odd tropical system will corrode a bare receptacle in a season or two, and an outdoor outlet that isn't GFCI-protected is a shock waiting to happen around a wet patio or a dock. Code has a short list of requirements for outdoor receptacles, and we follow it on every one:
We install and replace exterior receptacles across Mobile, Daphne, Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, including outlet and switch replacement for rental and vacation properties on a schedule that works around guests.
Call or send the form with everything that's bothering you: the dead outlet, the buzzing dimmer, the outdoor receptacle that quit. One visit is cheaper than three.
The electrician checks each item, tells you what's behind it, and gives you the price. Nothing starts until you say go.
The truck carries receptacles, switches, GFCIs, dimmers, covers and the common breakers, so most lists are finished before we leave.
Mobile's older neighborhoods, Midtown, Oakleigh, Crichton and Prichard, still have two-prong outlets on cloth-covered wiring and switches that were installed when a house ran a radio and a refrigerator. Mid-century ranches in West Mobile and Saraland often carry aluminum branch wiring, where a loose device connection is more than a nuisance: it's the classic cause of a warm outlet, and it calls for the right connector, not a standard swap. Newer construction off Highway 181 and in Foley has its own issue, backstabbed connections that loosen over time and show up as flicker.
Waterfront and near-coast homes from Dauphin Island to Gulf Shores add salt to the mix. Exterior devices, dock outlets and pool equipment receptacles corrode faster than anything inland, and a GFCI that lived through a few summers outdoors is due for a test. Professional Systems is headquartered at 216 E I-65 Service Rd N in Mobile and serves both sides of the bay; see our service locations.
"I heard crackling noises behind my washer/dryer. I called Professional Systems on a Sunday, spoke to a live human, and they came out the next morning, right on time. They found the dryer receptacle was a 15 amp receptacle on a 20 amp circuit with loose connections, changed it and made the proper connections as I have aluminum wiring."
— Jo S., Google review"Came home late afternoon to find my power off. I called after hours and Robby was over in 15 min. It was a bad circuit breaker. From the time I saw I had no power til the time I had power back on was around 30 min. Amazing. Super nice guys as well."
— Gary S., Google review"Professional Systems did an excellent job with our electrical work. Professional, on time, and the quality speaks for itself."
— Lilli A., Google reviewIt depends on the device (a standard receptacle, a GFCI, a dimmer or a smart switch), what we find behind it, and how many items are on the list; a visit with several devices costs far less per item than one at a time. The electrician quotes each item before starting, and the price is in writing.
Many homeowners do, and many of the scorched boxes we open were the result. Loose terminals, backstabbed connections, reversed polarity and aluminum wire treated like copper are the common mistakes. A licensed electrician makes the connection, tests it, and is responsible for it.
Kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry areas, unfinished basements, crawlspaces, outdoors, and generally within six feet of a sink or other water source. Older homes often have none of these, and adding them is one of the most cost-effective safety upgrades there is.
Not necessarily. Code allows an ungrounded outlet to be replaced with a GFCI-protected receptacle, properly labeled, which gives shock protection without a ground wire. If you want true grounding, or the wiring itself is deteriorated, a rewire is the answer; see our page on wiring and rewiring.
Usually moisture in the box or the device, a worn GFCI, or a real fault in whatever is plugged in. Weather-resistant devices in a proper in-use cover, mounted and sealed correctly, fix the first two. We trace the third.
Yes. Receptacles near water have their own rules for GFCI protection, distances and equipment bonding, and we install them to code across Mobile and Baldwin County waterfront properties.
