You just bought an EV. Maybe a Tesla, maybe an F-150 Lightning, maybe a Rivian — whatever it is, you’re done with gas stations and you want to charge at home. Smart move. But before you plug a Level 2 charger into your garage wall, there’s a real conversation to have about your panel, your wiring, and what it takes to get this done safely on the Gulf Coast.
Here’s the short version: a proper EV charger install isn’t a weekend project. It’s a permitted electrical job that touches your service panel, your wiring, and in some cases your utility connection. Done right, you wake up every morning to a full battery. Done wrong, you’ve got a fire risk sitting in your garage in 95-degree Mobile heat.
